I’m an Austin-based freelance writer and community college English professor.

A sixth-generation Texan born in the Rio Grande Valley, rooted in San Antonio from the age of two through my late 20s, and now living in Austin, I write about travel, foodways, the arts, and my own experiences. I have contributed to Texas Monthly, Texas Highways, Austin Monthly, Saddle Mountain Post, The Austin Chronicle, the San Antonio Express-News, San Antonio Magazine, and Edible Austin.

In the classroom, I focus on the intersection of food, identity, culture, place, and storytelling in my English 1301: Food as Narrative and English 1302: Food and Place classes at Austin Community College.
